The Customer's Problem
A thunderstorm power surge took out the logic board on a 12-year-old chain-drive opener. Homeowner wanted a quieter, ceiling-free option compatible with the existing torsion shaft.
Our Process
- 1
Removed the old chain-drive rail and motor head from the ceiling.
- 2
Mounted the LiftMaster 8500W jackshaft motor to the torsion shaft and bolted to the wall.
- 3
Installed the cable-tension monitor, manual release, and the integrated deadbolt-style lock.
- 4
Re-aligned safety photo-eyes and verified auto-reverse on a 1-1/2" obstruction test.
- 5
Programmed two visor remotes, the wireless keypad, and the owner's MyQ app.
Outcome
Quiet, belt-free wall-mount operation with cleared ceiling space. MyQ smartphone control and auto-reverse confirmed to current UL 325 safety standards.
